Join the team responsible for scaling the throughput and performance of the backend job processing system and code execution engines. This role carries an influential voice in shaping technical direction, product, and culture within a small, growing software engineering organization. You can work fully remotely from anywhere in EST states, with a preference for the Boston area.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical direction for critical systems
- Make valuable codebase changes deployed to production within minutes
- Shape job and code execution at the core of the application
- Write and review high-quality, well-tested code
- Identify improvement areas in the codebase and team workflows
- Own problems from conception through production and customer feedback
- Mentor other engineers on the team
Projects You Might Work On
- Build robust, high-availability systems supporting massive data throughput
- Improve action throughput for growing customer scale
- Create controls enabling job prioritization configuration
- Build features allowing customer code execution
- Ensure balanced, fair job execution on multitenant stacks
- Write blog posts sharing engineering learnings with the community
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven staff-level track record
- Preferred expertise in Linux systems (namespaces, file descriptors, Unix sockets, mounts, networking, process isolation), container runtimes/orchestration, filesystem and storage internals, or low-level system primitives in Rust or Go
- Strong debugging skills for complex kernel, runtime, and storage issues
- Willingness to work across the full stack despite a specialized backend focus
- Commitment to solving important problems pragmatically, with a focus on engineer productivity and developer experience
