Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies (RV Tech) is a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group, established in 2024 to advance software-defined vehicles — spanning operating systems, zonal controllers, and cloud and connectivity solutions. Owned equally by both companies, it's co-led by Rivian's Chief Software Officer Wassym Bensaid and Volkswagen Group's Chief Technology Officer Carsten Helbing. Volkswagen has committed up to $5.8B to the venture, including equity investment and milestone-based funding.
